Situated in the scenic and serene Deer Lodge Valley, the campus-based intensive therapeutic group home program at Galen takes advantage of the rural setting to provide a family-style living experience while allowing residents to receive appropriate treatment and educational services.

In the group homes, clients are provided:
- individual and group therapies;
- family therapy;
- life skills training;
- teaching recreational skills;
- building leisure skills;
- 24-hour therapeutic milieu and support.

In addition, to make sure the clients maintain their education and receive the individualized instruction so important to the success of the intensive therapeutic treatment program, A.W.A.R.E.’s Galen program includes its own school. The campus-based public school program provides a full range of therapeutic support in alliance with the Deer Lodge elementary and high school districts.

Resident students receive:
- individualized education based on the CST/IEP process;
- educational testing and evaluation;
- ancilary services such as evaluation and treatment in the areas of occupational therapy, speech and language;
- therapeutic support and behavioral help.

The population at the Galen campus includes seriously emotionally disturbed adolescent boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18, with 4 clients in each group home. These students may be dually diagnosed with borderline IQ or with mild cognitive delays. |
