A.W.A.R.E. Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides a variety of community-based services for families and children in the Kalispell and Polson areas. Those eligible for services include youth who have been identified with serious mental health challenges (severe emotional disturbances) and children, birth to age six, who have serious difficulties managing their emotions and behavior.

A.W.A.R.E. promotes a wrap-around philosophy and services are strength based, family focused, individualized and comprehensive in nature and design.

Youth Case Management:

Youth Case Management Services offer families, children and youth needed assistance to coordinate and obtain other community resources and services that will enhance the child's or youth's ability to remain with family and to participate fully in the community. The case manager also helps to empower parents to effectively advocate for their children and to use their own strengths and natural supports to accomplish goals.

Family Support Services:

Family Support Services offer parenting education, skill building activities for children and youth, one-to-one therapeutic support, counseling, therapeutic and recreational groups, and 24-hour program coverage.

Support staff (clinician, treatment specialist, treatment technician and other community-based professionals) are available to help assess strengths and areas of focus for the individual and family resulting in a strength based treatment plan.

Transitional Living:

Transitional Living Services provide supports to youth who need additional assistance learning the skills to live independently in an apartment. Skill building activities and supports, as outlined in the strength based action plan, are provided for young adults as they transition to adulthood. .

School Based Mental Health Services :

Our services target youth and families with significant issues related to or manifested in the school setting. Staff work collaboratively with school personnel to maintain youth who are struggling with behavioral and emotional issues in their school placement.

Services include assessment, program planning, skill building activities, one-to-one therapeutic support and therapy based on the youth's individualized strength based action plan.

Therapeutic Residential Group Home Services:

Our services are designed for youth with severe emotional disturbance who need a normalized, integrated home-like living environment. There are two homes in Kalispell, with four male children living in each home, who attend local schools and are involved in the community life around them.

Daily care and residential services are provided, including close supervision, needed structure and individualized supports based on each youth's strength based treatment plan. Youth participate in skill building activities, both individual and sessions and therapeutic groups, and community activities.

Family involvement is encouraged. When discharged, youth transition from a therapeutic group home to therapeutic foster care, transitional living or family support services. .
