A.W.A.R.E. Inc. Early Head Start Services.... are the only nationally accredited infant/toddler training site in Montana. With the Early Head Start program based in Butte, MT they provide services in Butte and Dillon, MT.

A.W.A.R.E. Inc. Early Head Start Services (EHS) -
Since 1965, Head Start has provided a quality child development program to serve income
eligible pre-school children and their families, including children with disabilities. The program is
designed for participants to achieve greater
confidence, self-respect, independence, and
dignity through the use of community resources,
parent involvement, volunteers, and a dedicated
staff.
These goals are achieved through the
provision of services including: education, social
services, health, mental health, parent involvement,
disabilities services and nutrition.

ELIGIBILITY:
- Head Start is a free program. Families must meet the income guidelines that are set by the
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (10% over the income guidelines are
acceptable).
- Participating children are infants and toddlers up through 3 years of age. We also offer prenatal services as well.

PROCEDURE:
Children may be enrolled in the program either by contacting program staff directly, or as the result of a referral from a social service agency.

| The National Head Start program: Head start is a Federal program for children from birth through pre-school aged from low-income families. Our program also offers prenatal services as well. The Head Start
program is operated by local non-profit
organizations in almost every county in the country.
Children who attend Head Start participate in a
variety of educational activities. They also receive
free medical and dental care, have healthy meals
and snacks, and enjoy playing indoors and
outdoors in a safe setting.
Head start helps all children succeed.
Services are offered to meet the special
needs of children with disabilities. Most
children in Head Start are between the ages
of three and five years old, while our specific services are available to infants and toddlers.
Head Start provides children with activities
that help them grow mentally, socially,
emotionally, and physically. The Head Start
staff recognize that, as parents, you are the
first and the most important teachers of your
children. They will welcome your involvement
in Head Start activities, and will work as
partners with you to help your child progress.
