About Traci


Traci Shinabarger oversees the operations and programming of AWARE’s developmental disability residential programs, supported living programs, and day services, including the Learning Center. She partners with teams across Montana to ensure services are person centered, consistent, and focused on helping people build skills, strengthen independence, and stay connected to their communities.

Traci began her career in residential care in 1998 and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2004. Her experience spans child protection, residential services, and public policy, including roles as a Forensic Social Worker with the Legal Aid Society in New York City, a Child Protection Specialist in Missoula, and program leadership at AWARE supporting youth group homes and ABA residential services. Traci holds a BA from Michigan State University and earned both a Master of Social Work and a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University. She is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and often says resilience is her favorite team sport.
