Matt Bugni serves as Chief Executive Officer of AWARE, Inc., Montana’s largest provider of behavioral health, developmental disability, traumatic brain injury, and early childhood development services. He joined AWARE in January 2011 and held a variety of leadership and business development roles before being appointed CEO in November 2018. During his tenure, Matt has helped guide the organization through significant growth, expanding services and strengthening organizational performance while continuing to focus on person-centered, community-based care across Montana.

Matt’s background combines public policy, finance, healthcare, and nonprofit leadership, providing a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing Montana’s health and human services systems. A passionate advocate for community-based disability and behavioral health services, Matt is committed to developing innovative partnerships and sustainable solutions that improve access to care and strengthen communities throughout the state. He also serves on the Executive Board of the Behavioral Health Alliance of Montana.

A Montana native, Matt pursued his undergraduate education at St. John’s University in Minnesota before returning home to build a career dedicated to public service and community impact. Matt is widely recognized for his collaborative leadership style, strategic vision, and commitment to advancing opportunities for people of all abilities to live, work, and thrive in their communities. Outside of his professional responsibilities, he enjoys spending time with his wife, their four sons, and one grandchild so far, as well as hiking, hunting, mountain biking, performing music, and traveling.
