AWARE Awarded Additional Grant Funding for Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy Training
In November 2022, PacificSource Health Plan Community Health Excellence (CHE) grants program awarded AWARE $68,000 to expand its family treatment program. In 2021, AWARE was awarded $78,300. With the first grant received in 2021, AWARE partnered with MDFT International, Inc. to be the first organization to bring the Multi-dimensional Family Therapy model to Montana. This second year of funding will be used to sustain and expand AWARE’s Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy model of care.
“We are grateful to PacificSource for once again recognizing the work that AWARE does and for providing additional funding to continue our efforts to train and develop the workforce to better serve Montanans. We are honored to be selected to receive Community Health Excellence grant funding,” AWARE CEO Matt Bugni said.
Multi-dimensional Family Therapy allows AWARE clinicians to provide evidence-supported and trauma-informed family treatment interventions to currently underserved populations across Montana. MDFT outcomes include transformative change for individuals and families and include interventions specific to substance use. MDFT is also a supported practice on the Title IV Prevention Services Clearinghouse, creating an opportunity for AWARE to continue to support the implementation of Family First legislation in Montana. This new provision of care will be implemented in AWARE’s school-based services, residential services and will be a primary family therapy used in AWARE’s new FACT model of care.
To date, AWARE has certified seven clinicians with two more who will be fully certified by the end of 2022. The additional funding will aid AWARE in training and certifying a total of 24 clinicians and five supervisors.
