AWARE's HR Team Serves 800 Staff, And Counting

If you've seen AWARE's latest annual report, you know what a diverse statewide organization AWARE has become over the years. Since 1974, the organization has grown from a small, local provider in Anaconda into what is now a large, statewide organization that helps 5,000 people live independent lives within the fields of early childhood, mental health and developmental disabilities.

As you can imagine, it takes an active workforce of around 800 employees to deliver the kind of necessary and crucial care that many Montanans need. Just take a look below to see a breakdown of our major locations and the number of employees housed there:

  • Great Falls and surrounding communities – 155 employees

  • Billings and surrounding communities - 136 employees

  • Butte/Dillon and surrounding communities – 135 employees

  • Anaconda/Deer Lodge and surrounding communities – 264 employees (also includes employees who cover multiple communities

  • Missoula and surrounding communities – 59 employees

  • Helena and surrounding communities – 35 employees

  • Bozeman and surrounding communities – 11 employees

With that many employees, it takes a great deal of coordination to manage all the moving pieces, and AWARE's dedicated human resources team keeps us on track. The team includes:

  • Trish Thompson, Human Resources Director

  • Bre Hall, HR Business Partner

  • Alex Combs-Lucero, HR Community Liaison

  • Kelly Gardner, HR Community Liaison

  • Stephen Berry, Scheduling and Staffing Coordinator

  • Barb Wilson, HR Project Manager

  • Sherry Williamson, HR Project Specialist

  • JoLynne Huotte, Payroll Project Manager

  • Alison Nolan, Payroll Project Manager

Together, these behind-the-scenes heroes work across service lines to ensure each program has the right people in place to deliver care to some of Montana's most vulnerable populations. They work within Montana communities to hire compassionate people who share AWARE's mission of helping people live independent lives. Then they work to retain employees with competitive wages, benefit packages, and a positive culture that builds some of the best teams in the state. It's truly remarkable to say the least!

Fun Fact - Did you know that AWARE's annual payroll for fiscal year 2023 came to a total of $35.5 million? Now that's a significant investment in Montana's workforce!
