At one point in our life, each of us has probably experienced some sort of discomfort. Whether relating to our physical body or our mind, we may have looked for ways to find the way through.
As we’ve been learning in this wellness series, the mind and body are connected. It’s a two-way street! When we’re experiencing physical discomfort, we’re probably experiencing mental discomfort as well – and vice versa.
Let’s consider this one mind-body connection example in ourselves:
Have we ever noticed how our body becomes tense as our mind experiences uncomfortable thoughts?
And have we noticed how our mind overthinks as we experience discomfort in our body?
When it comes to being tense in our body or our overthinking mind, we can ease the discomfort by finding the present moment. It takes just a couple minutes to begin finding our calm by:
Getting quiet in the body;
Noticing uncomfortableness and overthinking that arises;
Allowing sensations, thoughts and feelings to be here (kindly);
Breathing, inhaling into them and exhaling letting go;
Settling into our body by noticing our feet and seat; and
Beginning Again.
