“Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us.”
-Wilma Rudolph, a world-record-holding Olympic sprinter
Our heroes embrace their potential. They lean into their greatness and use their strength and courage to push the boundaries. They’re resilient, and we look up to them for their sheer tenacity and willingness to do the right thing – even when it’s frequently the most difficult choice.
We don’t need to remind you how challenging it is to put the needs of others before your own. We know it’s certainly worth the effort (it’s part of a greater purpose). The truth is, we’re all heroes in a way. We help people live independent lives – in the face of adversity. And without your dedication, that wouldn’t be a reality for many.
Inspired by all of you, we’re highlighting those who have gone above and beyond in their duties. They have risen to the challenge, and they continue to serve our mission despite everything this pandemic has thrown at us.
This month’s Healthcare Hero goes to Erica Wallen, Health Coordinator for our Early Childhood Services.
On numerous occasions, Erica has gone above and beyond contributing to the program needs at the center. She consistently raises the bar for herself and those around her. She’s been known to cover classroom shifts when needed, and she brings a sense of humor and lightness to her work. She’s even been known to bring in great coffee to share with everyone in the office. It’s a great approach as she communicates thoughtfully across the entire team.
Erica is involved with several early childhood committees and is a valuable role model to everyone who works with her. She has exceptional follow-through and is thoughtful when it comes to solving problems. She’s a natural at considering various perspectives, and it shows with her creative solutions that ultimately provide the best outcome for the children and families served at the center.
Erica, you are a Healthcare Hero! Thank you for your dedication and relentless commitment to helping people live independent lives. We are truly grateful for everything you do!
If you know of someone who should be recognized as the next Healthcare Hero, please send a tip to Bryon Higgins at bhiggins@aware-inc.org.
