Our heroes fight for independence

Updated: Dec 28, 2021

Each one of us has answered the call. We join a force that serves a greater good. Our efforts lift people up, empowering them to reach their maximum potential. We fight for their independence, and because of our perseverance, we are first in line to witness the pure and utter joy dancing across their faces when they succeed.

This work is challenging. We don’t need to remind you, but hard things are worth doing, especially when it makes the lives of those around us better. Throughout this pandemic, we’ve remained consistent. We’ve conquered everything that has been thrown our way. We’ve surmounted obstacles and embraced the unknown. We did it all – and we’ll keep doing it – because it’s what we’re called to do.

Inspired by all of you, we are highlighting employees who have gone above and beyond in their duties. They have risen to the challenge, and they continue to serve our mission despite everything this pandemic has thrown at us.

This month’s Healthcare Hero is Selena Hallfrisch, a targeted case manager in Helena.

During her short time with AWARE, she has truly exceeded all expectations. She has pointed families toward resources they didn’t know they had, and she has given people the strength they needed during dire circumstances.

Selena is as dedicated as they come, and she doesn’t skip a beat when lending a helping hand. Her efforts have comforted those in need, provided hope at the darkest of times, and even saved lives when all was thought to be lost. Her work is remarkable and certainly does not go unnoticed.

If you couldn’t tell, Selena has been involved in this kind of work for a long time. She’s held direct care jobs since the seventh grade, and she has a bachelor’s degree in social work with a minor in psychology and human development. Needless to say, she’s completely passionate about this field, and it shows. In the future, she’d like to obtain a master’s degree in hopes of becoming a clinician.

Selena, you are a true Healthcare Hero! Thank you for your steadfast dedication and relentless commitment to helping people live independent lives. We are truly grateful for everything you do!

If you know of an AWARE employee who should be recognized as the next Healthcare Hero, please send a tip to Bryon Higgins at bhiggins@aware-inc.org.
