The Power of PACT – Anthony’s journey towards a new life

·

The PACT (Program for Assertive Community Treatment) program in Missoula is new to the community, only taking clients since March. Although a young program, they have already made an impact by helping community members in key ways.

This month’s success story features Anthony. Anthony came to AWARE in April. After struggling with addiction and being unhoused, the Johnson Street outreach team referred Anthony to AWARE. PACT staff immediately created goals that were put into motion. PACT helped Anthony find housing, begin and maintain his journey with sobriety and find gainful employment. Prior to Anthony coming to AWARE, his time in the Johnson Street shelter created an environment that was not well suited for his goals to return to a stable livelihood. Surrounded by triggers and obstacles in the shelter, housing was a major priority to gain confidence and momentum towards future plans.

Erik Anderson from the PACT team got straight to work, helping Anthony get housed within 4 weeks of joining AWARE! This is an amazing accomplishment, and we are so happy and proud of Anthony for staying determined and committed to his goals.

Anthony says, “Since joining AWARE I have felt supported by a great team who is passionate about their clients. The AWARE team helps in any way they can, and I did not expect to get housed, especially so quickly.”

With the stability of housing, Anthony is now enjoying the routine of therapy and counseling. He is benefiting from the support, which is helping him continue his journey of sobriety and maintain his current job. Anthony wants to continue his growth, gaining responsible habits and managing triggers through the ability to speak with therapists and get their “2 cents”.

Now, Anthony is able to focus on his sobriety and work towards bettering himself and his future, with talks of adopting a kitty cat and making a plan towards getting his own license and car 😊!

On behalf of the whole AWARE organization, we are so proud of Anthony’s progress with the PACT team, and are so thankful for the hard work and commitment of our staff who make stories like this a possibility.
