As we move through this milestone 50th anniversary year at AWARE, I continue to reflect on the incredible people who make our mission possible every single day. Across Montana, our staff, supporters, community partners, and advocates work tirelessly to ensure individuals and families have access to the services, opportunities, and support they deserve. This quarter, we continue to recognize the work that has led us here and actively support the future we believe in.
For 50 years, AWARE has stood beside Montanans through moments of challenge, growth, healing, and hope. That legacy did not happen by accident. It was built through compassion, persistence, and a belief that every person deserves the opportunity to live a safe, meaningful, and supported life. Today, that commitment remains as strong as ever.
This quarter, we are proud to celebrate the extraordinary individuals who bring our mission to life every day. On June 19, we will gather in Billings for our Unconditional Care Principles (UCC) Banquet to recognize and honor AWARE staff whose dedication continues to strengthen our organization and the communities we serve. These team members are the heart of AWARE. Their work often happens quietly, behind the scenes, and in deeply personal moments that change lives forever. The UCC Banquet is an opportunity to pause and celebrate their commitment, professionalism, and compassion.
As we celebrate, we also remain deeply committed to advocacy in its many forms. Across Montana, the need for connection, understanding, and support continues to grow, and AWARE is proud to stand alongside the individuals and families we serve. Advocacy is about more than systems or policies. It is about ensuring people feel seen, heard, valued, and included in their communities. It is about fostering environments where safety, dignity, compassion, and opportunity are accessible to everyone. We are grateful for the many people who continue to champion acceptance, support meaningful conversations, and help create stronger communities for those who are too often overlooked.
Throughout this anniversary year, we continue to center our work around strength, belonging, and support because these values reflect both who we are today and the future we are working to build. We believe strong communities grow through compassion, connection, and a shared commitment to one another. We believe people thrive when they have stability, trust, and access to meaningful care. Most importantly, we believe support has the power to change lives every day through relationships, understanding, and community.
To our staff, donors, partners, and advocates: thank you. Your belief in AWARE continues to create lasting impact across Montana. As we continue to celebrate 50 years of service, we are also building the foundation for the next 50 years of hope, advocacy, and opportunity.
Together, we will continue ensuring that those we serve feel stronger, safer, and supported.
With gratitude,
Matt Bugni
