Lighting the Way: Cadence McIntosh's Creative Fire Starters

This month we're thrilled to shine a spotlight on one of our remarkable employees, Cadence McIntosh, who is making a significant impact on our clients as a habilitation technician in AWARE's developmental disability services.

Cadence was recently given the go-ahead on a fantastic project that is sure to ignite your adventurous spirit and elevate your camping experience. Inspired by similar creations she had seen, Cadence set out to craft the perfect fire starters, and she's been doing an incredible job.

These fire starters are not your ordinary kind. They are carefully crafted from shredded paper, bound together with a wax-like substance and molded into pucks using cupcake trays. What sets them apart is the aromatic element that our clients add. From sage to citronella, they experiment with various scents to make your camping trip even more enjoyable.

But Cadence's journey doesn't stop at creating unique fire starters. Her dedication and passion for our clients have been recognized through her recent award of the Unconditional Care Principle “Everything is Normal until Proven Otherwise.” This award highlights Cadence's exceptional ability to gently nudge clients out of their comfort zones, allowing them to shine in their own unique ways.

Cadence has rightfully earned her title as the ambassador of fun within our AWARE community. Her vibrant spirit and boundless enthusiasm brightens the lives of everyone she serves. She is a beacon of hope and an inspiration to us all, embodying the very essence of our mission to make a positive difference in the lives of the people we care for.

So, as you plan your next camping adventure, be sure to keep an eye out for these extraordinary fire starters, handcrafted with love and care by Cadence and our clients. Not only will they light up your campfire, but they also carry the warmth and spirit of our AWARE community.

Thank you, Cadence, for your unwavering dedication, creativity and passion for making our clients' lives brighter. We are proud to have you as part of our AWARE family.
